Sandstones
Naturpiedra presents a wide range of products in natural sandstone, one of the most used and appreciated in construction.
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock, composed of grains mainly of quartz, but also of numerous other minerals, exposed to great pressure, which compacts and solidifies them. The different composition of sandstone materials determines its colour, hardness and porosity. It is a material that is very resistant to corrosion, wear and tear and erosion. Its composition mainly of quartz gives it a certain shine and satin tone, as well as sufficient hardness to be cut into tiles, both in natural texture and cut to disc. Even though it is a material that when cut to disc is perfectly aesthetic, we can also apply finishes to the surface of the stone, such as bush-hammered, polished, tumbled, etc.
Used in construction as an architectural and decorative element, sandstone offers a multitude of uses in architecture. Used since ancient times in all types of buildings, sandstones are used both for paving floors thanks to their hardness, and for wall cladding thanks to their ease of adopting all types of shapes and their insulating and durability properties. It offers a great variety of models and colours, as we can see in the Naturpiedra catalogue. We can highlight materials with great results for ventilated façades, such as Arenisca Veta or Dorado; for cladding, flooring and paving, such as Arenisca Pedraza or Arenisca Sirio.
Ideal for exteriors and damp places, the colourful veins of sandstone offer a multitude of decorative possibilities, sandstones stand out for their excellent quality and resistance to fire. A quality that makes it a suitable material for the construction, for example, of fireplaces. Its composition and nature allows us to work this type of material in any type of dimension we can imagine, giving shape to the numerous decorative ideas that may arise.
