In direct collaboration with Patrimonio Nacional, Naturpiedra's team ofroofing specialists have carried out the delicate restoration of this important
monument in various phases; one of the first, and the most important slate roof

This imposing work started in the 16th century, was considered the Eighth
Wonder of the World for its size, functional complexity and great symbolic value,
as well as containing a large museum of all kinds of arts; executed with what
is known as "Medida real", slates in a format of around 40x15x1 cm.

Located next to the mountain range of Guadarrama on the well-known Imperial
Route, it contains: Royal Palace, basilica, pantheon, library, school and
monastery; It occupies an area of 33327 m2.

Building initiated by the personal commitment of King Felipe II, and
designed by the best architects of the time: Juan Bautista de Toledo, Juan de
Herrera, Juan de Minjares, Giovanni Battista Castello or Francisco de Mora,
gave rise to the Herreriano style, architecture that it marked the passage from
Renaissance Plateresque to unadorned classicism.
