The Offices Building “9 de Octubre” is located in the L'Olivereta districtin the Nou Moles neighborhood of the city of Valencia. The initial building,
which was the old Prison of Valencia, began to be built in 1889 and was
completed in 1901, with the design and direction of the architect Joaquín María
Belda, who gave the building a functionalist style. It was no longer used as a
prison in 1991. As a curiosity, in 1993 Luis García Berlanga shot the film “Todos
a la Cárcel” in this building. Since 2008 the building has been renovated and
since 2010 it has been an administrative center of the Generalitat Valenciana
in honor of October 9. The rehabilitation was in charge of the Valencian
architect Juan Añón, who counted, in the floors of the old corridors of the
prison, with Grey Phyllite honed. In the offices, there are currently around 2200
civil servants working.
