Between 1952 and 1954 the roof was modified, changing from the originalslate to a copper structure, but the copper was worn away, causing large leaks
on the roof, where the water leaked, reaching the vault that began to be
damaged by the consequent risk and deterioration of this historic building.
Before the damage got worse, they had to redo the roof.

The work was carried out from 2017 to 2019. It was considered to replace
the same material as in 1952, copper, but finally they opted for slate, the
original material, which better adapts to the alpine weather inclemencies, in
addition the carpentry was conceived to support weight and with copper they did
not reach that weight. After visiting the neighboring Abondance Abbey work,
they were convinced of the beauty of the result and decided on the same Phyllite,
with a 30 × 20 cm format, 8 mm thick, and two holes for an installation with nails.
