The aim of the new hospital in Western Denmark (in Danish "DNV-Gødstrup") is to create a modern hospital capable of world-class operational and therapeutic efficiency, while being perceived as a safe and secure environment for patients, families and staff.

To ensure efficient workflows, the project creates close contact between all departments and disciplines of clinical specialties. This puts the patient a few steps away from diagnostic imaging and ambulatory care, but the general idea is that the specialist goes to the patient and not the other way around. Concentrating transport routes in this way results in a hospital that puts the patient at the center and where proximity to clinical specialties ensures rapid and accurate diagnosis.

Research has shown that close contact with nature promotes patient recovery and staff well-being. Therefore, the project focused on creating a strong relationship between the hospital and the landscape of West Jutland, which guides inspiration through the uniqueness and evocative nature of the proposal, using materials such as wood, natural slate that allow the mind to escape from the traditional atmosphere of a hospital to a safe place and an environment like home. Contact with the great skyline of Jutland resulted in a clear architectural concept.

Naturpiedra supplied, in several phases and over two years, more than 5,000 m2 of Natural surface Phyllite paving in random lengths with a width of 30 cm and a thickness calibrated at 18 mm. The skirting boards of the same material were also supplied in Randomx7x1 cm. The building was inaugurated in April 2022 by Queen Margaret II of Denmark.
