Pools

Natural stone has traditionally been used for the cladding of swimming pools. Mainly in the so-called “swimming pool surrounds”, which are nothing more than the surrounding floorings, where people tend to walk barefoot and occasionally come into contact with the water. Another common solution is the “pool coping” or perimeter edge of the pool, which usually has blunt or bevelled edges to prevent damage to users. We can also clad the “pool shell” or interior pool with natural stone, which will always be in contact with water, so we will have to choose a suitable material for this need.

The naturalness of the stone brings us to the greatest possible similarity to the wetlands that nature gives us, such as beaches, lakes or rivers. Offering us multiple advantages when designing these outdoor spaces, such as:

Generally, especially when using light tones, natural stone has low temperature absorption and low refraction, making it comfortable to use on hotter days.

Choosing a suitable stone, we will have a material with optimal behaviour with water; the products to purify the water (chlorine, saline solutions) or treat wet areas (algaecides, cleaners, etc.) Finding suitable stones even for use as pool glass, permanently in contact with water.
