Naturpiedra has made a new investment this year, in line with its commitment to sustainable development. Both at the headquarters in Villanueva del Pardillo (Madrid) and at the factory in Bernardos (Segovia), we have bet on the self-consumption of energy generated by photovoltaic solar systems, thus achieving significant energy savings and a much more ecological consumption. Installations carried out by Cambio Energético, a leading company and specialist in energy saving and renewable energies.
Energy consumption in our modern society is increasing to such an extent that the available natural energy resources, such as coal, oil, gas, etc., will eventually run out in the medium to long term. But the current dependence on them is still so enormous that they are the source of crises and economic imbalances all over the world.
Solar energy, and more particularly photovoltaic solar energy, to which these projects refer, is a very interesting energy. The photovoltaic effect makes it possible to obtain electrical energy directly from solar radiation, thanks to the use of photovoltaic solar cells grouped into panels which capture said radiation.
BERNARDOS FACTORY:
The largest installation, at the Bernardos factory, is a self-consumption installation with 540 Wp plates, with an energy production capacity of more than 360,000 KWh, approximately 40% of the total consumption of the factory. This makes it possible to obtain a very significant reduction in greenhouse gases; no less than 125,000 t of CO2, the equivalent of planting nearly 2,500 trees.
This consumption of clean energy, associated with the treatment and closed-loop consumption of water, the rehabilitation of landfills in the quarry and the improvement of equipment and machinery in the quarry and the plant; makes the production of Naturpiedra much more environmentally sustainable.
HEADQUARTERS IN VILLANUEVA DEL PARDILLO:
Our headquarters in Villanueva del Pardillo also has its new photovoltaic system, this one for self-consumption and compensation of surpluses, bringing energy to the grid.
This is a more modest installation, it contributes to more than 60% of the electricity consumption of offices, showrooms, etc.; its so-called crystalline cell plates of 415 W each, contribute more than 30,500 KWh per year. This reduces the greenhouse gas equivalent by 8,250 t CO2, which is equivalent to planting 166 trees.
This commitment to solar energy, together with the Environmental Product Declaration certification process in which we are involved, shows the significant progress in 2022 of the Naturpiedra brand, towards its objective of sustainable development and its commitment to the planet.
