Para las obras situadas en Madrid se hab\u00eda optado por buscar el material en el contorno de Torrelaguna, y para las obras de Toledo la comarca de Y\u00e9benes ser\u00eda la m\u00e1s indicada.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Sin embargo, las obras de Madrid no se pueden acometer con pizarra de las proximidades, pues los sondeos en las zonas m\u00e1s cercanas no dan resultados positivos. Para las obras del alc\u00e1zar de Madrid y del Pardo ser\u00e1 la pizarra de las canteras de Bernardos la que se utilice debido al fracaso, definitivamente probado en 1563, de las muestras de la zona de Torrelaguna. Sin embargo, Y\u00e9benes parec\u00eda ofrecer buen material para las obras de Aranjuez, si bien no hay evidencias de que se utilizara material de esta zona\u00a0<sup>(5)<\/sup>.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">La b\u00fasqueda de lugares alternativos se prosigui\u00f3 con el inicio de la edificaci\u00f3n del monasterio de El Escorial. Se buscaron en la zona de Cebreros, donde parece que los especialistas franceses consiguieron un material aceptable. De hecho durante unos meses se extrajo material en la denominada cantera de la Palomera pero, no sabemos si fuera por las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas extremas del lugar o porque al final no era un material suficientemente bueno, el caso es que se dej\u00f3 pronto de extraer\u00a0<sup>(6)<\/sup>.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">La misma circunstancia se produjo tras el incendio de 1671, que malogr\u00f3 la mayor parte de la techumbre. Se hicieron pruebas con una pizarra cuya cantera estaba a una distancia de 7 leguas (unos 40 kil\u00f3metros) pero los encargados de la reconstrucci\u00f3n de la Junta de obras y bosques terminaron desech\u00e1ndolo:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-12ae23b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"12ae23b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p align=\"justify\"><sup>(5)<\/sup>\u00a0AGS, CC y SS. Reales, leg. 247: 1 f. 60 \u201cEn Torrelaguna y su contorno se hizo ensayo de las muestras de pizarra que all\u00ed se hallaron y pareci\u00f3 al sacador que ninguna dellas era de provecho -aunque la una de ellas ten\u00eda buen color, pero no hienden bien ni se dejaban cortar al prop\u00f3sito de lo que es menester\u201d. Sobre la zona toledana se hab\u00eda presentado una \u201cMemoria de la pizarra buena que hay cerca de Y\u00e9benes para que cuando haya buen aparejo se provea que se comience a sacar poco a poco y se traiga a Aranjuez y donde m\u00e1s S.M. fuere servido\u201d.<br \/><br \/><sup>(6)<\/sup>Cano de Gardoqui, (1994:172-3). Un siglo m\u00e1s tarde, tras el incendio de El Escorial en 1671 se volvi\u00f3 a intentar traer pizarra de una zona situada a la mitad de trayecto que Bernardos, que podr\u00eda ser otra vez esta cantera en Cebreros, pero se desech\u00f3 por resultar blanda.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
