Quiz\u00e1s marcado desde la infancia por el esp\u00edritu empresarial heredado de mi abuelo materno, siempre mantuve latente el deseo de dedicarme al mundo de la empresa. Crear riqueza, puestos de trabajo, desarrollo y progreso, fueron los valores que siempre me impulsaron a lanzarme, sin apenas preparaci\u00f3n ni recursos econ\u00f3micos, a la actividad empresarial.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">El recurso natural de que estaba dotado Bernardos, la pizarra, y su explotaci\u00f3n fueron el campo abonado para dar cuerpo y vida a este deseo.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Los comienzos no fueron f\u00e1ciles. Part\u00eda de cero. La primera actividad de cantera consist\u00eda en extraer de forma manual, planch\u00f3n irregular que hab\u00eda que vender, lo que supon\u00eda largas jornadas visitando viveros, almacenes de construcci\u00f3n y sobre todo, recorrer con mi peque\u00f1o utilitario Madrid y su periferia, oteando el horizonte para divisar gr\u00faas que evidenciaban la existencia de obras. Posteriormente la primera excavadora, el primer cami\u00f3n&#8230; Maquinaria curtida en mil batallas anteriores, que nos obsequiaba cada d\u00eda con la aventura de las aver\u00edas. Pero la juventud, la ilusi\u00f3n y el empe\u00f1o fueron est\u00edmulos suficientes para superar todas estas dificultades.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Tradicionalmente la pizarra era un material empleado en cubiertas de edificios y, poco a poco hubo que imaginar y crear nuevos productos con otras aplicaciones en el campo de la construcci\u00f3n. Introducirlos en el mercado, d\u00e1ndolos a conocer a arquitectos, promotores y empresas fue tarea larga, de mucha constancia. Hacer de la pizarra un material capaz de estar por derecho propio en grandes e innovadores proyectos, no solo en cubiertas, fue el paso siguiente.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">La actividad de extracci\u00f3n y elaboraci\u00f3n se complet\u00f3 con la instalaci\u00f3n de pizarra, que fue creciendo con un equipo familiar, que sum\u00f3 apoyos, ideas e ilusi\u00f3n a esta actividad iniciada por mi. Este nuevo paso que aportaba soluciones globales, nos ayud\u00f3 a conseguir que, unidades de obra proyectadas inicialmente en otros materiales, se sustituyeran por piedra natural.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Hoy el grupo de empresas Naturpiedra Jbernardos, que sigue siendo familiar, cuenta con un importante equipo de cualificados profesionales que ha situado las pizarras, filitas y cuarcitas de Bernardos, en amplios mercados internacionales, contribuyendo a desarrollar y consolidar la actividad laboral de esta peque\u00f1a localidad, que me vi\u00f3 nacer, y de la que tan orgulloso me siento, siguiendo el rastro de mis ancestros que durante siglos transmitieron sus conocimientos de generaci\u00f3n en generaci\u00f3n en este oficio duro y pegado a su tierra.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">El libro que tienes en tus manos es el resultado de una ilusi\u00f3n compartida que, impulsada por mi hijo David, ha encontrado respuesta en dos reputados profesionales: el profesor e historiador Jos\u00e9 Ubaldo Bernardos, y el experto en piedra natural e ingeniero Fernando L\u00f3pez Mesones, que con sumo cari\u00f1o, rigor, y una seria investigaci\u00f3n, han dado cuerpo y solidez a esta publicaci\u00f3n.
